‘The roots of education is bitter but the fruit is sweet’ an adage that defines "Diya Jalaye Rakhna". To educate one is like lighting a candle that rekindles other lights and it is what people like Sain Dino, Bano and Sassi believes in. A place where education is reckoned as a sin, the determined Bano is going to give her all to acquire a decent education. Her stark conditions at home also do not let her give up her passion. Her father and sister Rani are only two people who encourage her on her path of learning. While on one hand, Wadera Sarang, a feudal is absolutely against educating boys and girls because he wants to rule on people, and illiteracy leads to submissiveness. He spreads negativity among the villagers against educating girls and relates it to be a sign of Resurrection.
On the other hand, Sassi, a teacher who is a ray of hope in the one and only school of her village situated in interior Sind, she has also gone through the painful experience of abduction by the people of Wadera. Though Sassi’s determination do not let her give in.
Bano, Sassi along with school’s headmaster Sayein Deeno are those people who stand like a pillar to all the bigotry and resistance from Wadera Sarang , and thus do not compromise over education at any cost.
