ECP completes scrutiny of 24,094 nomination papers 2013

ISLAMABAD: The second phase of election process ended on Sunday as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed initial scrutiny of 24,094 nomination papers across the country, Geo News reported.

The commission has received a total of 24,094 nomination papers, which is a record in Pakistan’s election history.
A total of 7364 nominations were filed by candidates aiming for National Assembly seats while 16730 papers came for provincial assembly slots – 4389 for Sindh Assembly; 2522 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly; 1449 for Balochiatan Assembly and; the highest 8370 for Punjab Assembly.
Meanwhile, third phase of election process will begin from today (Monday). In this, petitions would be filed against acceptance, rejection and objections till April 10 and decision on them would be made till April 17.
The candidates can withdraw papers till April 18 and the final list would be issued on April 19. Later the process of ballot paper printing will begin.
